Intellectual Property Policy

How rights holders report counterfeit or infringing listings, what we do about them, and how vendors can respond.

Effective 11 October 2026

1.Who this policy is for

1.1SixStores is a marketplace: independent vendors list and sell their own products. This policy explains how the owner of a trademark, copyright, industrial design or patent (or someone authorised to act for them) can tell us about a listing that infringes their rights, and how we deal with it.
1.2It forms part of our Terms of Service and Vendor Policies. Every vendor agrees to it when they sell on SixStores.

2.What is not allowed

2.1Vendors may not list or sell:
  • counterfeit goods, replicas or copies sold under another brand’s name or logo
  • products described as genuine, original or official when they are not
  • pirated or unlicensed copies of software, games, films, music or books
  • products that copy a registered design or use a patented invention without permission
2.2Vendors also may not use another party’s photos, product descriptions, logos or brand names in a listing without permission, other than to describe accurately a genuine product they are selling.

3.Reporting an infringement

3.1Email support@sixstores.com with the subject “IP report”. Please include:
  1. your name, organisation, postal address, phone number and email address
  2. the right you own and proof of it, such as a trademark registration number from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau or another registry, or evidence that you own the copyright
  3. if you act for the owner, proof that you are authorised to do so
  4. the link to each listing you are reporting
  5. why each listing infringes your right, for example how you know the product is not genuine
  6. a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by you or the law, and that the information in your report is accurate
  7. your full name as a signature
3.2Reports that leave out this information take longer to review, and we may ask you for it before acting.

4.What happens after you report

4.1We confirm we have received your report within 2 working days.
4.2If the report is complete and the infringement is clear, we remove the listing or hide it from the marketplace, normally within 5 working days of receiving the report. We tell you what we have done.
4.3We send the vendor the details of the report, including your name and contact details, so they can understand it and respond. If you would rather we did not share your contact details, say so in your report.
4.4Removing a listing is a step we take to protect shoppers and rights holders. It is not a finding of law, and it does not stop either of you from taking the matter to court or the relevant authority.

5.If your listing is reported

5.1If we remove one of your listings, we tell you why. You can respond within 7 days by replying to our email with evidence that the product or content is lawful, such as invoices from the brand owner or an authorised distributor, or a licence to use the brand, design or content.
5.2If your evidence satisfies us, we restore the listing and tell the person who reported it. If it does not, or the rights holder disputes it, the listing stays down until the two of you resolve the matter or a court or authority decides it.

6.Consequences for vendors

6.1Counterfeit goods. A vendor who sells counterfeit goods has their account closed immediately, as set out in our Vendor Policies.
6.2Other infringements. For other infringements, such as using a brand’s photos without permission, we remove the listing and warn the vendor. Repeated infringements lead to suspension and then closure of the account.
6.3We may hold payouts for orders of the products concerned so that we can refund shoppers who bought them.

7.If you bought a counterfeit

7.1If you believe an item you received is not genuine, tell us within 48 hours of delivery with photos, through your order or our contact form. If we confirm it, we give you a full refund, including the delivery fee, and act against the vendor under this policy.
7.2You can still report a fake after 48 hours. We will investigate and act against the vendor, and we will consider your refund under our returns policy and Ugandan law.

8.False or abusive reports

8.1Do not report a listing unless you believe it infringes your rights. We may disregard reports that are incomplete, misleading or made to harm a competitor, and stop accepting reports from anyone who repeatedly sends them. Anyone who knowingly makes a false report may be liable to the vendor for the harm it causes.

9.Our own intellectual property

9.1The SixStores name, logo, design and software belong to SixStores or its licensors, as set out in section 13 of our Terms of Service.
